During the July 4th weekend, the annual Funtastic Fourth Fishing Derby was in full swing at ‘Tween Waters Inn. Families and kids of all ages took part in the competition with hopes to hook the “big one” and enjoy a nice summer day near the water. A fun time was had by all, with two two awards (for “Longest Fish” and “Most Fish”) given out in each age group.

In the Age 7-10 group, Grant Reecher nabbed the prize for the “Longest Fish” and Lauren Kvederis won for the “Most Fish.”

Among those in the Age 11-17 group, Jake Hahn won the “Longest Fish” award and the Kvederis family did it again when Alex took home the prize for the “Most Fish.”

And in the Age 18+ group, Tom Hahn won for the “Longest Fish” and Larry Arnold earned the trophy for the “Most Fish.”

The derby participants and any other hungry visitors were welcome to join the post-tourney Captiva Island Roast where they could enjoy slow-roasted pig and other island dishes. It was a fun day for all at ‘Tween Waters Inn and a great way to celebrate Independence Day in paradise!

clean beachThe BP oil spill is still hundreds of miles away from Southwest Florida and it’s highly unlikely that it will affect the beautiful beaches of Captiva Island.

However, ‘Tween Waters does not want to take any chances. We have just initiated our new “Clean Tween Policy” to ensure that our visitors can plan and reserve vacations at the resort without financial concern.

This policy provides a full refund, including taxes, should the beaches of Captiva Island be closed by state or federal officials due to oil concerns during a guest’s stay at the Resort. The Resort hopes that the “Clean ‘Tween Policy” will allow people to plan their dream vacations to Captiva Island without worry.

Also, guests are reminded to keep checking the live beach cam on the ‘Tween Waters website if they want to get a glimpse of the beach with their own eyes.

For more information concerning the policy, visit www.tween-waters.com or call 800.223.5865.
