Tween Waters Team - Habitat EventResort employees volunteer time, talent to help a local family in need

Employees from ‘Tween Waters Inn & Marina partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, Inc. on May 1 to take part in the nonprofit’s “Raising the Walls” event in Lehigh Acres. The volunteer effort helped frame the walls of a new home for a local family in need of affordable housing.

The event took place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and brought together a team of 15 ‘Tween Waters employees, who volunteered their time as part of the resort’s commitment to community service.

“This was an amazing experience for our team — getting out there, working side-by-side and knowing we’re helping a family take the first steps toward homeownership,” said Tony Lapi, chairman of the board of Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, the ownership group behind ‘Tween Waters. “It’s easy to write a check, but it’s something else entirely to feel the sweat on your brow, see the walls go up and know you’re literally helping build someone’s future. We’re honored to support Habitat’s mission and proud of our team for stepping up.”

The “Raising the Walls” event is a milestone in Habitat’s building process, symbolizing the tangible beginning of a family’s journey toward a better life. Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties has built more than 1,900 homes in the region, serving as a partner in addressing Southwest Florida’s affordable housing crisis.

“We were pleased to have the ‘Tween Waters team on-site,” said Rachel West, Director of Donor Development, Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, Inc. “When local businesses get involved in our mission, it sends a strong message that community matters and that everyone deserves a safe and decent place to call home. This partnership is a shining example of how, together, we can create a lasting impact on our community.”

The resort’s participation is part of its broader philanthropic mission, which includes support for local housing, conservation and family-focused initiatives across Southwest Florida.
