‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort will host a benefit for 40-year veteran fishing guide Capt. Jerry Way, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Wakefield room. Admission is $15 and includes a hog roast dinner, cash bar, live music and silent auction.
Recently diagnosed with cancer, Capt. Jerry Way is known as one of the longest working captains on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Moving to Sanibel Island in 1954 he eventually became a captain and fishing guide, working more than 40 years on the island.
“Jerry has been a part of our island family for decades,” says fellow Captain, Lamar Williams, organizer of the event. “When a family member becomes sick, you help them in any way you can.”
Jeff Shuff, General Manager of ‘Tween Waters Inn added, “We are honored to host such a great cause and event. Jerry has been a guide and mentor to so many visitors and islanders – it’s a great opportunity for everyone to give back.”
The silent auction will feature a two-day stay at ‘Tween Waters Inn along with other hotel stays and local participating organizations. All of the proceeds of admission and the silent auction will benefit Jerry Way and his family for medical and living expenses. The hog roast dinner, venue, and portion of the cash bar proceeds are also being donated. For more information and donations, contact Captain Lamar Williams at: 239-340-1506.
