Ding Darling Seaside Cottage 106

Ding Darling Cottage 106

4 guests   1 bedroom   1 bed   1 bath

This historic seaside cottage is named after Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, a multiple Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist and avid conservationist who vacationed at ‘Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island for many years during the 1930s and 1940s. Located at the threshold to our private beaches along famed Captiva Drive, this charming Gulfview cottage is only steps to your beach paradise.

This 1-bedroom Captiva Island cottage consists of a master bedroom with king bed, sleeper sofa, kitchenette, fireplace, full bath and relaxing screened porch with magnificent views, sunup to sunset. Bonus: TripAdvisor’s top-rated Old Captiva House (and Crow’s Nest Bar & Grille) are just moments away.

Behind the Name: “Ding” Darling often drew actual cartoons on the guest registry at ‘Tween Waters Inn upon check-in. Many of his famous illustrated takes on island life can be viewed in the reception area of Old Captiva House. His work as conservationist led to the creation of Sanibel’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the largest mangrove ecosystem in the United States.

‘Tween Waters facilities are excellent, the food was delicious and staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.
