Steve and Stefanie Plein are two of Southwest Florida’s most passionate, professional and knowledgeable water and marine life lovers you’ll ever meet. And fortunately, you can now enjoy their amazing storytelling six times each year as they’ve joined Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts and ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa as our new Directors of Eco-Tourism. In compelling words, images and videos, Steve and Stef will share the marine worlds they truly love. As founders and owners of New Wave EcoCharters, they travel up and down Southwest Florida (and the Caribbean) to explain why all of us who love our barrier islands — regardless of where we live full time — should put preservation and protection of our fragile oceans eco-system at the top of our consideration set.
Steve is a native Southwest Floridian, boat captain, guide and documentarian who graduated the University of Miami with a gift for writing — but a love of water. Meanwhile growing up and attending universities in the Midwest, Stef too developed a love for salt water and pursued that passion — where her degrees eventually led to her status today as Marine Biologist. Together, as ‘Tween Waters Directors of Eco-Tourism and owners of New Wave Ecocharters, they’ll document the magnificent beauty that is Southwest Florida beach life (and occasionally beyond) while teaching us all about marine life, marine mammals, sea turtles, mollusks and more. Watch for their awesome stories via Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts communications every other month or, if you’re visiting us, book a private excursion at New Wave Ecocharters.
